Anne Marsden Williams Gresham, an artist, was married yesterday afternoon to Dr. Stephen Scott Morse, an assistant professor of microbiology at Rutgers University. The Rev. Craig Biddle 3d performed the ceremony in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Richmond.
Barbara Manley Brierre and Dr. Melvin Vulgamore, provost of the University of Richmond, attended the couple. The bride, whose previous marriage ended in divorce, is the daughter of John Skelton Williams, an agent with the Equitable Life Assurance Society in Richmond, and the late Florence Higinbotham Williams. She is an alumna of Westtown Friends School and Connecticut College and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is a granddaughter of the late John Skelton Williams, who was president of the Seaboard Railway in Richmond and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in 1913 and Controller of the Currency under President Woodrow Wilson from 1914 to 1921.
Dr. Morse is the son of Phyllis Morse, a New York artist, and the late Murray Herman Morse, who was a supervisor with the New York City Department of Social Services. He was graduated from the City College of New York and holds a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. He was formerly a fellow and an instructor in microbiology at the Medical College of Virginia.
